Leicester University Engineering Building

Client: Leicester University
Value: £2 million
Services: Mechanical & Electrical design development & installation

A treasure of 20th century British architecture designed by Stirling & Gowan, Leicester University’s Engineering Building is Grade II listed.

P&R Morson carried out a £2 million upgrade to its mechanical and electrical services as part of a wider, £19.5 million refurbishment project, commissioned by the University.

The team worked closely with both the client and Historic England to manage the heritage demands of the building services upgrade, which included installation of new low pressure hot water (LPHW) and central heating pipework, along with new chillers, heat emitters and a new air conditioning system.

The electrical services requirements included new lighting, modifications to the small power installation and integration with the building management system (BMS).
